Somewhere over the rainbow
I am sitting here with tears in my eyes, having heard that song. Now for a lot of reasons, that song touches my heart. The biggest reason would have to do with the memories of growing up with “The Wizard of Oz”. I did not think that anyone could ever sing the song as well as, or better than Judy Garland. I was wrong….Beyonce just knocked my sox off.
The show “Music Rocks” just came on and I was about to begin the channel surfing ritual when her voice caught my attention. It was awesome. I may stick around to see what other songs will be covered and updated….and how many will be ruined….but Beyonce did an awesome job, kept true to the heart of the song, and still made it hers.
I don’t keep up with much of the new music or musicians. If I happen to hear something I really like, I will hunt it down on iTunes. (i live musically with my iPod and my iTunes). However, I think i will need to check Beyonce out. And so far the covers have been poorly matched with artists….but I may stick with it to see Queen Latifah….(mmmmmmmmmhmmm)!
I don’t really care who sings that song – I love it and it makes me weepy too. Perhaps for my lost youth or maybe for lost dreams.
