Senior Discount?
Took kid #2 and granddaughter #1 out to supper last night…it was a ‘eat here and support the PTO’ evening. So I trekked the hour’s drive to where they now live, and spent a short hour with them (I do so love to spend time with my granddaughter), and we giggled a lot.
When I went to the counter to get a little ice cream for dessert, I reached into my pocket to pay what I could see was the price. He gave me change back.
Slightly confused, I looked at the screen on the cash register. The cheeky teenager had given me a Senior Discount.
My brain registered the shock as I walked away. Senior? Discount?
I have never been one to turn down a discount….those of us who live on the financial margins rarely do. But Senior?
AARP starts marketing you when you turn 50…I know this because I have passed that milestone. But this does not make me a Senior!
I just had a birthday, bringing me closer by one year…but not near close enough to be a Senior!
It was a long day at work, and sleep is a fleeting thing these days, so I may have looked a bit tired and maybe somewhat rough around the edges. But Senior?
I cam back to the table, incredulous. Told kid number 2 and her hubby, and she broke into gales of laughter.
I am not, I repeat, NOT a Senior!

next people will be standing up upon your entry to bus or train carriage!
thanks evan…..
